Lauren Welte is an Assistant Professor with the Departments of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alberta. She completed her BASc and PhD at Queen’s University and then completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research aims to quantify how soft tissue loading in the foot and ankle affects locomotor function. Ultimately, her work helps to inform the rehabilitation of foot pathologies and the design of footwear and orthotic devices. In her spare time, you can often find her doing sports, frolicking outside, picking up new crafting hobbies, or playing games with her friends and family.
